Twenty nine WWII Bowfin crew members and about 40 family and friends attended the "Reunion-on-the-Boat," that was held at Bowfin Park from 27 September to 9 October 1996. Reunion participants included a rare appearance by one of Bowfin's former commanding officers, CAPT Alexander Tyree, USN (Ret.). Other highlights included a nuclear submarine embark, a tour of Subase, Pearl Harbor and the USS Arizona Memorial. Dinner luaus were held at Bowfin Park, the Hale Koa Hotel and the Polynesian Cultural Center. However, perhaps the best part of the reunion was spent reminiscing about old times in the Bowfin Hospitality Suite and making new friends with the staff of Bowfin Park.

CAPT Alexander Tyree, USN (Ret.)

While CAPT Tyree was in town for the reunion, he recorded a sound tape that is being used in the walkman-style headsets that narrate the tour of USS Bowfin for our visitors. A copy of this tape is available for sale through our Gift Shop. Call us at (808) 423-1341, or e-mail us today: giftshop@bowfin.org.
