The Turtle
The original sub! Made during the American Revolution. She could submerge for short periods of time, and was used to attach mines to enemy ships. Click to learn more of its history and the principle of buoyancy.

Hunley
This sub is the first to ever succeed in an underwater attack. Used in the Civil War to break a Union blockade of Charleston, South Carolina. Click to learn more about its history and how an objects form influences its movement in water.

USS Bowfin
Sub that this whole site is dedicated to. You can find a brief history here, although we encourage you to browse the rest of the site, as well as how flow effects how a sub moves. Special thanks to NASA for allowing us to use and modify their program Foil Sim.

USS Dallas SSN-700
