On December 6, 1941, a day prior to the attack on Pearl Harbor, President Franklin D. Roosevelt wrote a letter to the Japanese Emperor expressing concerns surrounding turmoil in the Pacific area of operations.

Despite the second mandated shutdown on Oahu, we have continued to execute our renovation project. We are happy to inform you that the construction phase of our renovation is complete -- we are now focusing efforts on exhibit installation.
We're sharing a few artifacts found left aboard USS Bowfin after her service. -- These items are not currently on display but are part of our #HiddenHistory series.
As part of the $20 million revitalization project, USS Bowfin Submarine & Park’s gift shop was temporarily closed for renovations.
